  Biography	David Bles was born in the Hague on 19 September 1821, the son of the merchant Joseph David Bles and his wife Sara Wolf. Already at the age of 13, the young David turned out to have so much talent that his parents sent him to the Hague drawing Academy. Here he followed lessons from 1834 to 1837. From 1838 to 1841, he was apprenticed to the famous painter Cornelis Kruseman. Then he moved to Paris, where he attended lessons by Robert Fleury. He stayed in Paris until 1843, after which he established himself in Belgium. Here he painted scenes from the history of the Dutch painting, such as, for example, his painting "the Rubens and young Teniers" from 1843 or "Paulus Potter, sketching in the meadows" was formed in 1844. David Bles settled in The Hague though he was a member of the Royal Academy in Amsterdam between 1845 and 1899. He painted scenes from the history of Dutch painting and is best known for portraits and genre paintings. David Bles died in 1899 in The Hague.
